Wall of Pledge for Responsible Blogging.

Have you guys heard of Responsible Blogging before? Well in my opinion, being a blogger doesn't mean that you can write anything in your blog. Yes, you own your blog, and it functions as your personal diary. But it doesn't mean that you can write vulgar words to insult people, to spread unethical contents and to judge people/things/events based on your own perception. Of course, no plagiarizing, harassment and  spreading of inaccurate contents in your blog are the main keys to responsible blogging.

So, what is Responsible Blogging?
Responsible Blogging 2013 is a campaign calling upon the entire online community in Malaysia to rally for and support an ethical climate in the blogosphere for our mutual benefit. This responsible blogging campaign is initiated by CrowdPot, a premium blog marketing platform that connects brands with blog publishers to create ethical sponsored blog posts. Crowdpot is a new platform that enables brands and business to engage with bloggers and the online community with their unique thumb-tipping mechanism.

Their goal is to achieve 1,000,000 engagements; 2000 Bloggers; 9 Brands. Stand up for Responsible Blogging, and all this, within 2013.

And what exactly is Wall of Pledge?
Wall of Pledge is a platform for online community to pledge their support for Responsible Blogging. Any Malaysian with a valid Facebook account are entitled to pledge. Wall of Pledge is presented by Ninetology. It aims to get 99,999 people to pledge for the support of Responsible Blogging. The 99,999 pledges is a culmulative part of their big goal of 1 million engagements.

And the good news is, for all of you who pledge will also be rewardedNinetology will give away 1 smartphone/tablet for every 999 pledges. 100 units of smartphones/tablets are available.

So, as a blogger, we all have the responsibility to practice responsible blogging. It is important to practice this because our blog are visible to anyone. We have to be responsible, not just to ourselves, but to our readers as well. They read your blog, because they are interested in what you write, the information from your blog is real and accurate, and they trust your words, trust the blogger by reading your blog posts whenever there's updates. We shouldn't disappoint our readers, by posting any untruthful or unethical contents in our blog.

Thus, let's support this Responsible Blogging Campaign. I’ve already pledge on the Wall of Pledge. You can do your part too, by pledging on the Wall of Pledge. Together, we pledge for our support for Responsible Blogging!

  1. Yeah I had to self-regulate some of my posts. I try not to post anything that's not purely ethical.
